1st Annual European Network Meeting for the Work with Perpetrators of Domestic Violence
December 3rd to 5th, 2009
Berlin, Heinrich Böll Foundation, Schumannstraße 8
In cooperation with the Gunda Werner Institute of the Heinrich Böll Foundation supported by the European Commission's Daphne III programme.
The Focal Point aims to advance the implementation of treatment programmes for perpetrators of domestic violence in Europe, that consequently implement victim safety measures. Additionally to other activities, the Focal Point supports the exchange of experts in the field of domestic violence (practitioners, researchers, decision makers) on the quality of work with perpetrators of domestic violence. For this reason the Focal Point organizes network meetings for experts. The first annual meeting will take place at Berlin, December 3rd to 5th, 2009.
The meeting has four main objectives:
- To lay the foundations for European networking in the field of work with perpetrators of domestic violence
- To assess the needs for development in this field
- To develop visions for the next steps and for the future
- To offer opportunities for mutual exchange
Programme
The meeting is to start on Thursday, December 3rd, 2009 at 13:00 and to close on Saturday, December 5th, 2009 at 14:00 (Both times are preliminary, exact times will be specified later).
- Thursday - Ideas and Needs concerning European Networking

The programm will give plenty of opportunity for exchange in working groups and for discussions and linking between practitioners, networkers and decision makers from all over Europe. The meeting will comprise a mixture of exchange in smaller groups and of the development of visions and precise steps in plenary sessions.
The guiding principle of the meeting and the envisioned network is a close cooperation of both work with perpetrators and the support of victims of domestic violence. This is why we try to keep representatives of both areas well-balanced.
The meeting language will be English.
